OUR COMMITMENTS
OUR COMMITMENTS
With a commitment of over 15 years in oncology, La Roche-Posay is committed to helping cancer patients undergoing treatments. Our goal is to help improve the quality of life of patients by reducing skin side effects with our safe, tolerable and effective skin care products.
After more than 7 studies involving more than 570 cancer patients undergoing cancer treatments, La Roche-Posay has effectively demonstrated the reduction of skin side effects in these cancer patients, who were receiving effective, yet harsh and drying skin treatments. In these same studies, there was also a significant positive change in their quality of life.

CLEANSE
Pollution, UV rays, heat, cold, wind… The skin on your face is constantly exposed to external aggressors. Give it some extra TLC by cleansing it every morning and evening with a soft, hypoallergenic cleanser or makeup remover that has been clinically tested under dermatological control.
As for the skin on the rest of your body, swap out your classic shower body washes for ultra-gentle products that protect the skin barrier.
Make sure to rinse with warm water, as hot water causes more irritation, and to dry each body part with a soft towel without rubbing.

MOISTURIZE
Some oncology treatments, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy, weaken your skin’s natural defences, so make sure you hydrate your skin every day. This is key, as proper hydration is what helps reinforce the skin barrier and keep your skin soft while preventing discomfort, itchiness and lesions on the hands and feet, all skin side effects that could occur after cancer treatments.
If in doubt, don’t hesitate to consult your pharmacist, care team or dermatologist.
Choose scent-free shea butter- or ceramide-based balms and creams, as they have a rich texture and a formula that resembles the skin’s natural lipids.

PROTECT
During the entirety of your oncology treatments and up to one year after they end, your weakened skin is particularly sensitive to the sun. This is why it’s crucial to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection that has an SPF of over 50. Also look for a product with a logo that has the letters “UVA” in a circle, which guarantees its UVA protection (wrinkles, sagging and discolouration) of one third the UVB (red patches, sunburns and burns) SPF.
If you’re undergoing radiation therapy, also be aware that irradiated areas are particularly susceptible to sunburns. This means you’ll have to protect them from the sun your entire life. Surgical scars, which are very sensitive to the sun, are prone to hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin).
Ensure you always keep your scars out of the sun by covering them with an accessory or clothing.
